Promotion means only one thing - airplay! Up until now, promotion efforts were focused on getting songs played primarily on FM radio. Today, we must focus on getting your songs played on Internet radio stations, satellite broadcasters like Sirius and XM and the High Definition FM radio broadcasters, as well as college radio stations. Artist Promotion can also include getting videos aired on public access television, commercial broadcast TV channels, and networks such as MTV, VH1 and BET. Much of the business of promoting music involves establishing and maintaining relationships.
